Empathy No. 010

I'll say it: Today was pretty nice. Those rumor-spreading scumbags were all sneaking whispers to me, talking about "Oh, I bet this is so rough. I bet you hate this." The only thing I hate is that THOSE people showed up at all. You know, I haven't been to so many real weddings, and this one wasn't so fancy, but it was nice all the same. I could see getting married like this - who needs the big wedding hall and all the flash and everything? Girls are supposed to want that but it's SUCH a waste of money. Brooke was pretty bored after a little while but Jason was kinda into the whole thing. I don't know, maybe he just misses having a mother around the house, but I think he's even happier than Dad about this.

Afterwards, I got a chance to meet some more of new stepmom's family. Pretty nice people - know we won't be seeing much of them because they live so far away, but they're welcome to come over anytime as far as I'm concerned. Roderick...well, new stepbro dealt with it better than I figured he would. The scumbags were all over him, too. They must have heard about him, so they're all lining up to test him, see if he's as smart as everyone says. I even heard one of them asking him about his Dad - who does that at a wedding reception?

But as they say, this is the first day of the rest of my life. Now I gotta learn to live with all of this. Ellie and Roderick finish moving their stuff tomorrow, and then...it's just life, I guess. We'll see how it turns out.

This is the end of Part 1. If you’d like to read this part by itself, you can download the first ten updates here. You have my permission to share that file and I encourage you to do so.
