LLOYD: Roderick, mind if I come in?
RODERICK: Sure, go ahead.
LLOYD: Not interrupting anything, am I? Any big projects?
RODERICK: No, just chilling out.
LLOYD: Now, I find that hard to believe. You don't have anything going at all? Sometimes it seems like you don't have an off switch.
RODERICK: Yeah, I know, but I'm trying to give myself more time-
LLOYD: Well sure, the way you were working with Gary's band, you couldn't have had more than scraps for yourself. You still going to play with them?
RODERICK: Yeah - I mean, maybe down the road.
LLOYD: What I get from Allie is that it can be rough on the women, too. I'm sure your girlfriend appreciated having you around yesterday.
RODERICK: Carlie, yeah, I-
LLOYD: Don't get into a thing, I'm not prying. Just a little casual man talk, I know you haven't had much of that in your life.
RODERICK: I guess not.
LLOYD: There is something I wanted to talk with you about, and I was waiting until things were quiet. Your Mom took the girls out shopping, it's a good time for it.
RODERICK: Jason went with them?
LLOYD: No, he's around here. We can all go do something a little later, but I want to take just a few minutes first. What I want to talk about is a little personal. I'm not making you uncomfortable, am I?
RODERICK: ...It's just a little mysterious.
LLOYD: You know, it's really nice what you've done to this room. Felt a little bad about putting you in here, it is a little small, but I figured you didn't want to bunk with Jason. Is it comfortable for you? Because if you need anything-
RODERICK: Oh no, it's great. I have everything I need.
LLOYD: You've been getting along well with the kids, right? You hang out with Jason a lot.
RODERICK: Jason's nice, we get along pretty good.
LLOYD: And the girls? You don't butt heads with Allison at school or anything?
RODERICK: No, it's pretty good with her, too. I haven't really spent so much time with Brooke, so, you know...
LLOYD: She's a little bit of a mystery to everyone. Okay, it's not fair to you to draw this out. This past year has been hard on your mother, I can't even imagine what it's been like for you, but you've been doing so well. We're all impressed.
RODERICK: I'm just living.
LLOYD: A lot of kids your age would have been a lot more difficult, believe me. And I really do feel like both of you are really part of the family now, so there's one last step I wanted to take. Now, I haven't even told your mother about this yet, I want to see what you think first. Here, take a look at these.
RODERICK: What's in the envelope?
LLOYD: Just take a look.
RODERICK: ...These are adoption papers.
LLOYD: That's right. Now, it's mostly symbolic, but it's important to me, I know it's going to be important to your mother. And if we decide to do this, you will have to agree to it. You're almost an adult, so we can't make this decision for you. It means you'll be a Levitt.
RODERICK: Yeah, I know...I don't know what to think of this.
LLOYD: Okay, it's a lot to drop on you, so go ahead and hang on to these. Think it over, we're not in any kind of hurry here.
RODERICK: I understand.
LLOYD: No one will be upset if you say no, we'll just be happy if you say yes. Okay?
RODERICK: ...Yeah.
LLOYD: Good. I'm sure you have a lot to think about, but if you do want to go do something with Jason and me, just ramble on out and find us.
